Important Battery Optimization Update [Issue & Solution]

If you missed our battery management overview in October, this is a great time to revisit it and provide product-specific information following a customer issue with battery life. They report going through batteries at a “rapid rate” on units that are primarily left in the dock and connected to power all of the time.  From the guidance we shared in October, Smart Charging Habits can double battery lifespan by reducing cycle wear and preventing thermal damage. Limit charges to 80% to minimize cell stress. Avoid full discharges below 20% or overcharging. Use only manufacturer-approved chargers and charge at room temperature (avoid temperatures below 0°C/32°F or above 40°C/104°F). For storage, keep at 40-50% in a cool, dry place. It is also recommended that you discharge and manually calibrate the batteries in your tablets, laptops, and handhelds every two to three months.   Your rugged devices include settings management software, and while they won’t remind

Transform Forklifts from Potential Liabilities into Smart, Safety-First Assets

According to the Industrial Truck Association, the average injury-related incident costs $38,000 in direct expenses, with indirect losses reaching $150,000. It also reports that 70% of forklift accidents can be prevented with proper training and safety measures. Powerfleet, a leader in IoT-enabled fleet management, tackles these challenges with advanced telematics solutions designed for forklifts. By using real-time monitoring, automated controls, and data-driven insights, Powerfleet significantly reduces accidents, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a culture of proactive safety. At the heart of Powerfleet’s offerings is the Forklift Gateway (VAC), a wireless device that securely mounts on industrial vehicles like forklifts and tow tractors. This gateway serves as a central hub, gathering data from onboard sensors and optional add-ons such as GPS, impact detectors, speed monitors, load sensors, and pedestrian proximity alerts. It enforces operator authentication via wireless access control to prevent unauthorized use. Operators must complete digital safety checklists, documenting defects

Battery Management: Good For Your Business and Your Bottom Line

Device battery management has become a culturally ubiquitous phenomenon. Nearly everyone has devices, from mobile phones to smartwatches, tablets, and laptops, but not everyone knows how to manage their battery life effectively. That’s not your problem unless it’s your equipment. Mobile data collection, especially fieldwork, requires power that lasts throughout the day. Do you have a plan to maximize not just charging life, which is how long a battery lasts after each charge, but also battery life, the number of healthy charging cycles a battery can handle before needing replacement? They are connected and inseparable, and if you invest in rugged technology, having it power down or “fail” due to power loss from tired batteries impacts the operation. Smart Charging Habits can double battery lifespan by reducing cycle wear and preventing thermal damage. Limit charges to 80% to minimize cell stress. Avoid full discharges below 20% or overcharging. Use only

Why Durability Matters: The Case for Rugged Devices in Extreme Conditions

In industries where uptime and reliability are mission-critical, device durability is more than a convenience—it is essential. Standard consumer laptops and tablets are not designed to withstand the environmental stresses faced in construction, field services, oil and gas, defense, transportation, and emergency response. Rugged devices, however, are purpose-built for these conditions, providing a distinct advantage in performance, safety, and long-term value. Engineered for Harsh Environments Rugged laptops and tablets undergo MIL-STD-810 testing to confirm their resistance to shock, vibration, and repeated drops. Many also achieve IP ratings for protection against dust, water, and humidity. This engineering ensures they remain functional in environments ranging from deserts and offshore rigs to arctic conditions, where standard devices are often prone to overheating, freezing, or system failure. Reliable Performance in Mission-Critical Operations Rugged devices are optimized for field performance, with extended operating temperature ranges, reinforced components, and high-visibility displays that remain usable in direct

A.I. is Here, Is Your Hardware Ready?

Leveraging the promise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become a crucial part of maintaining a lean and competitive operation, and AI is here. Will your competition wait to see what you do? Probably not, so how do you get a step ahead?   AI Ready and More?  Tablets, laptops, fixed, mobile, scanners, printers, handhelds – contact us today! What You Need To run the language models that make AI work, you will need the hardware, software, connectivity, and power, and to take advantage of its potential. AI-optimized rugged computers require powerful processors, including NPUs and GPUs, to efficiently allocate resources for running AI tasks, along with ample high-speed memory and storage. Local processing power is more dependable than the cloud, but AI-optimized devices must have high-speed ports, USB 3.0, 5G, Wi-Fi 6 or 7, and software designed to harness and share AI’s advantages. And without the right batteries or accessories to keep your hardware powered, AI remains a deep
